A baby hedgehog is called a hoglet. When they are born their spikes are soft and short. Soon after birth, their spines harden. When they are 3 weeks old, their spines are effective and they can safely follow their mother outside . They are known as being garden keepers. They will eat beetles and cause no harm at all.
