Wander project our houses in Cincinnati OH

I forgot about these pictures. They are of the two houses we had in Cincinnati Ohio. The first few include the rose bushes and the original swingset from our house in Western Hills. The last few pictures are of our house in Mt. Airy as it was being built. The moment we decided that we had to move from the first house to the second house, it was a race! We wandered over to the new house frequently. It was the first (and so far only) house we designed. Well, the majority of the house was set. The builder called it semi-custom. We moved the laundry room to the upstairs of the house. We changed the pantry in the kitchen, so we had a better (deeper) pantry. We also partially finished the basement so I could have an office.

I won’t well actually I am going to complain about basement offices again. The first house, in Western Hills, had been built in the 1930’s. The previous owners of the house were very nice. They had cats, my wife is allergic, so I had to go to the house with a carpet cleaner before we moved in and cleaned every inch of the carpeted levels of the house. The basement was unfinished in the house, that was the only home remodeling project I have ever been allowed to undertake (the remodel of the basement was not finished by me, which is why it was the first and only home remodeling project I was allowed to undertake). The rose bushes on the side of the house were still here when we sold it.

There was also a mulberry tree in front of the house. I cannot tell you how big a mess that tree made every single spring/summer as the mulberries ripened. First birds ate them, and of course, shared the post easting process with every car in the neighborhood. Only three of the houses near us had garages. For the most part, all of us parked on the street. Our last Cincinnati house had a hill in the backyard. There is a picture looking at the finished back of the new house. You can tell from the angle of the picture just how steep a hill it was. We ended up adding a retaining wall on both sides to create a little more area for the kids to play. The basketball goal was the first thing I wanted in the new house!
