Wander project a DC area dog park…

One of the things I love about the DC area is the respect for dogs. Just south of DC in Virginia, there have been some dog fighting rings that existed and have been broken up. I doubt all of them are gone, and I find dog fighting horribly. But the DC area has tremendous support for dog owners. Starting with a large number of dog parks that are clean and well kept! We don’t go as often as we would like to go, Raven has some dominance issues.

Plus we have four dogs in our house now. As a pack, it is a little harder to do things.

Still, on occasion, we wander to dog parks and let the dogs run around.

That said, it is important to note that in our house the dogs are treated differently. We consider dogs to be part of the family. So, like the kids, if they have mud on their feet we discourage them from getting on the furniture.

If they don’t have mud on their feet, we allow them on the furniture.

Raven has taken over the guest room in the house as her bedroom. She doesn’t know where to sleep when we have a guest.

Dylan sleeps in my wife and my room, between the two of us, taking up at least ½ the bed.

As I said, the dogs in our house, are part of the family!

  1. Dogs are of course lovely creatures to have around the house. We have 6 at home. But I don’t own any of them ?. Everytime I think of getting my own dog, my cousin would remind me about the responsibilities and so I change my mind. ? I guess I am fine with just being their aunt. ?

  2. We never got to go to any of the dog parks, I had a full blood wolf at the time I lived in “Merryland”. I love the DC area though. There will always be this sort of thing going on in the poorer neighborhoods. “Virginia”.. Great post, looks like the Golden was the alpha of the park that day. Good looking dogs theres, from the husky to that black.. boxer?
