There was a family ice cream manufacture and shop out in the neighborhoods in SF (not tourist areas) that had Durian flavored ice cream – and I was never brave enough to try it after all the stories from my friends. They have celebrated a 50 year anniversary — Polly Ann Ice Cream has 500 rotating flavors and offer 50 at a time. I usually bought mango. Anyway, that’s as close as I got to Durian – is it the horror that everyone says even though they eat it.??

If you hold your nose it actually tastes good. I remember standing outside with my dad eating Durian – it wasn’t bad. Mom just wouldn’t let us eat it in the house.

Thai food can be overwhelming! Try to see if you like it is what I taught my children. It is the best way in my opinion!

Like all, these pictures are excellent … food would also be a big problem for me … we have all possible restaurants in our country, and I also tried quite a few national cuisines abroad in order to eat every day but I do not know to imagine … I would probably be more hungry than sit

when I took my family to Thailand my daughter can’t handle spicy food. She ate rice two meals a day.

Thank you for honoring my request about Thai food! I’m not a hot fan; so I don’t know if I’d enjoy it. I did an article on durian; and I’m glad to hear comments from someone who actually ate one!! Great set of pictures too. Thanks again.

Maybe I’d like this food if it’s not hot. I did not know anything about this country. From your series I have learned something. Thanks Doc.

Is that you in the picture? Those are great memories. I have heard about Durian and its stench (lol) It is something like our jack fruit but jack fruit has a strong, pleasant smell.
