Videy Island is the largest island of the Kollafjorour Bay in Iceland. It lies near the Reykjavik, the capital. Visitors can get to the island by ferry. It is an amazing place to get away from the bustling city. Here you can see ancient ruins.
Among the attractions on the island are impressive artworks by Yoko Ono, the Imagine Peace Tower
and by Richard Serra, the Milestone Project.
You can see a church on Videy that is one of the oldest in the country and the Videy House that is the first building to be built of stone in Iceland.
There are many trails for hiking and biking. From the trails, you can get fantastic views of the surrounding mainland and looking toward the west, the amazing outline of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
In the summertime, ferries leave from both the Sakrfabakki Pier and Aegisgardour Harbour. During the winter there is weekend service.
Another great thing about heading out to the island is whale watching.
