Travel guide: Dim Cave in Alanya, Turkey

The Dim Cave and its surroundings are a great place to relax from the city and enjoy the coolness of the valley of the mountain river. On the way to the cave, you will drive along a large number of restaurants on the river Dim Chai. It is here that the local people come in summer’s heat, and without a rush, they have a dine and swim in the refreshing water.

Dim Cave is in a beautiful and cozy place – over the river gorge surrounded by pine forest. A good asphalted highway leads to the sight. Above, there is a cafe and a car park, everything is well equipped and convenient for tourists. So, how about getting to this wonderful cave? The map shows that Alanya is less than 15 km away, but, unfortunately, public transport does not go to the place, and it’s difficult or expensive to organize a trip yourself.

It’s the easiest way to get to Dim by private transport or a rented car (in Alanya, this service costs only $ 25 per day). It’s also simple, but not completely cheap way – order a taxi from Alania and back. Such a trip will cost somewhere in the 50-60 dollars. It is possible to take a tour of the bus, which includes visiting the cave Dim. But I do not like this option at all, because every time you spend a bit of time on each sight, and you will not be able to enjoy the beauty in the crowd.

  1. At first I thought Dim Cave might be called that because of a lack of light but then it occurred to me that all caves have a lack of light. Is ‘Dim’ just a name or does it translate into English?
