The acoustics at this theater are incredible. I was there with a group from the travel agency I worked at and we tried a little experiment. One of us stayed down on the stage area and the rest of us went to different spots in the seating. The person on the stage whispered but he could be clearly hear all around the theater.
The photo was taken with a Pentax MX camera with a SMC-Pentax 28mm f:2.8 lens. The film was Fujichrome 100 exposed at EI 125 and an exposure of 1/60th of a second at f:4.0.
Editing was done with Luminar Flex 1.1. I used the Develop filter to lower the contrast, highlights and whites, open up the shadows and increase the clarity. Then I added Accent AI and Tone which I used to decrease the SmartTone and open up the shadows a little more. Next I added the Foliage Enhancer and Remove Color Cast (Auto #2) filters. Lastly I straightened the image a bit.

I was only in Greece for a couple of days but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It is so huge and wonder what would be its capacity,
According to Wikipedia it held 13,000 to 14,000 people.
What a sight that would be if it is filled to capacity!!!

The Greeks of antiquity showed meticulousness and devotion when they built such theaters.
I saw at least one other theater when I was in Greece and it wasn’t anywhere as nice as this one. It was on the Acropolis in Athens and was much smaller.
You are right – these theatres were designed brilliantly for an age long before microphones and loudspeakers.
The Greeks knew their geometry.
Perfect seating for any type of theatre..
I thought it was amazing that they were able to do that. It was better than many modern theaters I’ve been in.
