The Lonely Bay, Cooks Beach, Whitianga

The Coromandel peninsula is a place where you must visit on coming to New Zealand. A long time a famous explorer, Captain Cook came to this place to record the transit of Venus. I believe they did some ship repairs on this Bay. A very long time ago.

This place I visited about 4 years ago and stood up from a height overlooking stunning views from Flaxmill Bay.

    • Thanks Elenka, in those days there weren’t many Europeans and the Maoris he met looked very frightening. However, the Maoris helped the Europeans survive and are very good people.
