.May 1975 Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Georgia, Gainesville, Florida
My brother Peter & his first wife Becky had visited us In Gloucester. My junior year of high school had just come to an end. They invited me to drive to Florida & spend a month with them. I was very excited; Peter was my hero. The drive down was fascinating once we crossed the Mason Dixon Line. North Carolina was beautiful, especially the mountains and college town Chapel hill. South Carolina and Georgia were scary. I didn’t realize that so many Americans never learned to spell. Cardboard signs for “cheep peeches” were everywhere. The sweet smell of Magnolias took the edge off. Florida was great as always. I visited the Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine. I almost drowned in Silver Springs (Peter saved me). Becky tried to sell me on the Bahai faith but I got tired of listenening to her Seals & Crofts records, preferring Peter’s Phil Ochs & Allman Brothers lps. It was a good trip overall.
Well done! Nice post!
It sounds like an amazing trip! What a wonderful photo as well.
Thank you Lisa! It was a great trip that got me looking forward to seeing more of the world & USA
Okay, it seems you can get me to read anything! I particularly like you’re able to send me back in time with such ease and manage to keep me interested in your blog, that’s real talent my friend. I don’t normally get this interested in reading many blogs, especially in that other forum we’re both at either, LOL. GREAT WORK.?
Thank you so much. More to come 🙂
