Shimba Hills National Reserve and its lodge

One more place I want to mention talking about Kenya is Shimba Hills National Reserve and its hotel. This park is one of Kenya’s three ‘rain forests’ and its wooden hotel, surrounded by swamps and jungle, with baboons in reception, a squirrel restaurant and zero connection to the outside world, was one of the most spectacular places to stay. The room was shared with lizards on the walls, so naturally, this experience will not suit everyone.

Also, the rangers organize hikes to the waterfall of stunning beauty every morning. Bearing in mind that this park also has poisonous snakes and leopards, the manager seemed to be your best friend at the time, although he assured us that animals rarely touch the humans. It was as he said, so we did not meet anything on the road.

Definitely, I recommend this place 100% and you will be sharing your impressions for a long time to come.

After leaving Shimba Hills National Reserve, reconnecting, and dealing with messages of relatives’ anxiety (so be aware of the brief loss of communication before you go there; knowing that you’ve gone in Africa, such disappearances can really seem uncomfortable), we traveled to Diani Beach.
