The wonderful trails of the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitsburg, Maryland had many offshoots. The lush trails wandered through the mountainside and here was a small pathway that led to a statue of Saint Francis of Assisi (Patron Saint of all animals). The circular path was lined with white Azaleas and off to the side were many animal statues sitting side by side
