A great place to relax and have a picnic is in Rembrandt Park in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This park was named after one of Holland’s most famous artists, Rembrandt van Rijn. The Postjesweg divides the park in two and there are many lakes and fields to enjoy. Visitors to the park can enjoy sculptures, the oldest petting zoo in the city and a great playground for children.

Here you’ll find The Uylenberg which originated in 1973. It is a petting zoo with peacocks, horses, pigs and other animals.

The Het Landje is an adventure playground for children on a tiny island in the park. Children can use their imaginations and build huts, “rent” pets like rabbits and guinea pigs. They can participate in various activities like making crafts.

It is possible to raft on the creek, children can take pony rides, join in the children’s theatre camp or just plain have a lot of fun. Snacks and soft drinks are available at a small shop.

Avid runners enjoy it here and the park also offers a free outdoor gym at the southern end. For just enjoying nature there are benches, landscaping and ponds. At different times of the year, there are special events held here.
