This is not far from Te Kauwhata where my sister Felicity & John her husband lives. Rangiriri is a historic place, where a war was fought between the Maori and the Pakeha (white european). Many lives were lost in history.
There is a place where you can read what happened, a hill where a battle was fought and other awful things occurred, but now its history.
Here today, is a Maori Pa, and people’s farm steads and a village in Te Kauwhata, with shops and a school and even a police station and other public services.
Here is the part by the river Waikato.
Wonderful landscape … I enjoyed the sightseeing of pictures

Lovely views, great photos, good history lesson..Awesome post Pam!
Thanks so much Kim. Yes, earlier in New Zealand history there were wars between Maori tribes and wars between Pakeha (white european) and Maori.
Today we live as best we can together. Glad you liked the photos
Oh okay, i have seen documentaries on the Maori Tribes. I hadn’t heard of the Pakeha.
The Maori people refer to the white man as, “Pakeha”, so I am a Pakeha. I don’t mind it, it is as it says a white man or white woman. Most Pakeha in New Zealand are from the United Kingdom originally or from Europe. Most of my ancestors originated from the UK but I do have some other European ancestry as well.
Oh well, that makes sense. Thank you Pam.
