Adyar is a suburban area in South Chennai with a green cover of 30%. It has many parks and gardens that serve as the lung-spaces for the city. The top 3 covered in this article are Huddlestone gardens of the theosophical society, Children’s park near the Guindy national park and the Adyar eco park. All the 3 places can be visited any time of the year. Even in summer months, one would not feel the fury of the Sun thanks to the shade provided by the trees. One can feel the connect with nature in any of these places. Every city should have such green places to provide relief from the congestion and pollution.
The city is quite popular, and it looks like the park is very useful for the city.
Yes, you can say that a million times Albert.
I know from the telling of my business partners that you have very crowded cities in India. That’s why such green parks are a real balm.
Yes Vidocka. You are right. These parks provide the lung spaces for the cities.
Yes. It is wonderful to be surrounded by nature in an otherwise crowded city.
Is this the Chennai, where a tennis tournament takes place?
Yes Lado. Chennai open happens here only. I have seen young Nadal play here more than a decade back. That was before Nadal had won his first grand slam title. Yet he was already a rising star with lots of promise. He lost in the semi finals, if my memory serves right.
Oh very interesting, dear Mohan … I thank you very much for the detailed explanation
The greeny is for our health (exercise)
Yes. You are right. Greenery makes one feel healthier.
Lovely photo, never been but looks great
Thanks Pamela for your comments. Yes, it is a lovely place.
I visited Chennai about 12 years ago but did not go to the gardens you shared. I missed that!
It is ok DocAndersen. It would depend on the amount of time you had. Adyar eco park was not ready twelve years back. It is very difficult to find time to visit Huddlestone gardens in theosophical gardens as the park would be usually closed when we are free. You can plan to visit these parks during your next visit.
I shall add that to my list, thank you!!!!
