Maasai Mara tribe in Kenya

If you ever visit Maasai Mara National Park, I also want to mention that there is a Maasai Mara hamlet near the park that you can visit and chat with local tribesmen. Masses are immensely interesting and colorful, and their lives have not changed for centuries, so you can, in part, feel like traveled by time machine to the past.

Their lives are still dependent on sunrise and sunset, they drink water from the river, houses are made by women from branches, grass and cow manure, and the most unexpected fact is about teenage boys who have to leave their homes at the age of 15 and go out into the woods. Their goal is to survive in the woods and hunt down a lion whose head is proudly brought to the village.

Yes, these are really different people (or maybe we are different) who would certainly not be attracted by new phones, cars, and other luxuries unlike us Europeans, but it was a great reminder that we are increasingly straying from our first home, nature.

By the way, getting to the village can cost as much as $ 20 unless you ask to be taken to an uncommercial part of the tribe.
