Lake Atanasovsko, Burgas, Bulgaria. Extraction of sea salt and lye.

Lake Atanasovsko, Burgas, Bulgaria. Extraction of sea salt and lye.

29 August 2020.

The lake is coastal and offers a great variety of flora and fauna.

Some plants and animals are protected by the Biodiversity Act and are globally endangered.

But in the lake itself there is a complex of salt pans, in which sea salt and lye are extracted for more than 100 years.

This is an interesting fact because these salt pans are located in the reserve.

The yield is in accordance with the ecological balance in the reserve and practically no damage is caused.

The salt itself is so pure that even if you fill a souvenir turbine, you can use it immediately for cooking.

With the permission of the manager, I was able to take pictures of the salt pans.
