On the road to Piha Beach, just before, there is a turn off to Karekare beach. It’s also a surf beach like Piha beach.
However as you turn off, you descend down a tar sealed road that is narrow and winding with bush and steep cliffs. You have to be careful driving down and going up. I found going up is easier than going down.
However, with this beach, you go to a car park and you need to walk about 15 mins at least to get to the beach. There are some surf life savers there.
