Inversion at Clingmans Dome

So here we are at the pinnacle of the Clingmans Dome lookout in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Looking out on the nearly cloudless sky you can see the valley below is full of “clouds”. I found out it was actually “inversion” where a fog is trapped in a layer from the air below being very cold compared to the warmer air on top. All I know is it was very beautiful and looked like snow.
