We are at the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough Canada and looking at the Birchbark Canoes on display. This particular Birchbark Canoe has many containers in it made of birch bark and holding various dried meats and vegetables. The containers are sewn together often with spruce root. In the left side of photo you can see rolls of birch bark that are stored and ready to make other birch bark items.
Visited Canada a long time ago but did not see any of this
