This weekend my car broke down prior to getting ready for work, so I had to research alternative ways to get to work. With no option of a CTA train near my job I looked into Metra stations only to find that I have a stop within a 1-mile radius from where I work, which eliminated the headache of how am I going to get to work now. As I got ready for work I packed my running clothes and shoes in my backpack, so that I can explore the Metra stop that I will be riding until I get my car up and running. I ask you this, do you have alternative ways to get to work in case your vehicle breaks down? It never hurts to plan in case it ever happens.

I am retired but I don’t mind walking at all, only in Auckland, unless you use a place where you can be seen, walking can sometimes be unsafe.
I can easily walk part of the way.
Our public transport is not very good and is often unreliable, trains or buses. So most in Auckland New Zealand, use their own cars
I don’t mind walking unless things are within a 2 mile radius.
I think in a big city there are always alternative ways. You as well as me live in big cities. I do not mind walking part of my way…
Pretty much how I have been doing it. I work two jobs, and one of those jobs I bring my bike with me. The other I walk once I’am off the train.

I do not have near the train so my alternative bus.

I suspect I would be stuck, although I can ride the bus to the Metro station, it takes about 2.5 hours doing that.
I wonder why they just don’t offer bike share like Chicago does. It may cut down on traffic.
They do, it is just really hard to ride a bike, while wearing a suit.
I understand that, especially in the summer. I could imagine the feeling of being all sweaty or being on a bike with limited movement because of suit.
it really is, I am not a fan of suits anyway.
Tell me about it. The only suit-like thing that I have worn was my military uniform for occasions and I dreaded that alone. In-between wearing it occasionally maintaining body shape is always the fun part.
i just feel like suits don’t present me to the world.

I can never see myself being in a long-term career that I wear a suit daily. Then you have to maintain the suit.
i only have to wear suits and jackets 3 days a week or less. Customer meetings normally require suits.
3 days doesn’t sound to bad, unless its summer
