Giant Liftlock at Peterborough Canada

As the WCHA (Wooden Canoe Heritage Association) canoeists headed down the Trent River to the giant Liftlock, I took a look at it from the other side. These Liftlocks looked impossibly large with the biggest hydraulic ram I have seen. They were built in 1905 and used the water of the river to lift the entire lock up 80-100 feet. Incredible engineering.
