Boats on Kerkini Lake, Greece.
I do not know why they call it a lake, not a dam!
The lake is the marsh of the Struma River.
In 1932 the artificial lake was created by blocking in the east and the south with a dam wall.
At the moment it is a reserve and there are many protected bird species.
It is also rich in freshwater fish whose catches are the livelihood of local fishermen.
Usually, when I visit it, I pay more attention to the birds.
But I think it is worthy to take at least one photo of their livelihood!
Lovely photo of these boats
And I have some passion for the boats 🙂
This is part of the life of local fishermen.
Great photo and always love hearing about the reserves for bird protection.
I hope this autumn to visit this reserve again.
seems like an ancient time boat
The beds are very different from those for the sea. With flat bottoms and covered with tar.
what a wonderful picture. i love the angle of your capture – the boats look ready to go!!!
They leave very early in the morning …
awesome picture, thanks for sharing!
You like to visit Greece. As always a nice picture.
I like it, but not in the summer – it’s hot for me 🙂
