This was taken from over the other side of Lake Taupo with a very good Zoom Lens on my Canon 7 D.
It was one of the first days yesterday when you could actually see the snow of the Tongario National park.
You could see all 3 Mountains in the Tongario National park across the water. Mt Ruapehu, (which has 2 peaks), Mt Tongario and Mt Ngaruahoe.
All 3 mountains are active volcanoes and can erupt at any time.
In the winter months there is often skiing for the rich and wealth on Mt Ruapehu.
Great view – you captured the snow line it literally looks like you drew the snow on! as always great picture Pam!

Why is the placed called National park?
It is called Tongario National Park. We have all our parks as “National Park”. It means that these parks are owned by the Brittish Crown and are accessible to the public that includes over seas visitors.
