   • Thanks so much Elenka, glad you like the park. Sir John Logan Campbell was very generous and gave this park to the people of Auckland to enjoy. About 100 years ago

8. What a beautiful place it must be! Can you climb the Obelisk?

   • I don’t have that skill, but I wouldn’t advise it. Some may try it. I will show you another picture closer up of the Obelisk. Thanks Doc.

     • Sorry I meant to ask are their stairs and a place at the top of the Obelisk to look around.

9. It looks like a lovely pastoral scene where an obelisk seems a bit out of place.

   • Yes, but that is a good place with a light on top of it, a warning light for low flying planes. Often its covered in fog in winter and not always visible from the air. Thanks Barbara. It was also put up to honour certain people in Auckland.
