When a particular site first began his site, there was moderation and ‘quality’ monitoring. This insured that the best work would be spotlighted on the front page. This would encourage others to visit the site, to join, etc.
This was the lure; Excellent work on the opening page, stuff people wanted to read.
It didn’t matter who published it, or when. The item stayed on the front page as long as it was the best.
This attraction of excellent work is of benefit to the site.
A newbie pops on, sees ‘must read’ items, begins to read and those who can write know they have to do their best.
I have been to many writing sites that folded up and I believe that it is the low quality of the contents that did it.
It is. A viewer comes onto a site, doesn’t see anything on the front page, moves on. The front page is low quality for sure.
The articles on the Virily Trending or front page are not necessarily the best quality but they are the ones which get the most clicks.
I must write an article about how Triond was played. It was fantastic how a group decided to push really poor stuff.
The posts here are rotated off and on, depending on the number of comments.
On Factoidz, the Mods would put the best items on the front; even if they were months old as proof of quality. Sure, there would be new posts, many getting views
