How Writing Sites Destroy Themselves – 61

I can’t repeat this enough.    On many sites, the ‘Animal Farm‘ paradigm exists;  ‘All Writers are Equal but Shills are more Equal than others.”

You have to be alert if you are one of those who is not equal.

If you look at a front page of a site, you’ll see that this one was published 6 hours ago, or that one was published 4 hours ago, but your work has not been published for over 30 hours.

How does that happen?

How is it that other people are published and you are not?

It is not that your work is rejected; it is not that your work needs correction, it is that your work is left to grow mold while the Shills can publish every minute on the minute.

Why?

There are a number of reasons for this.  Some are more nefarious than others.

  1. I am a newbie here if less than 3 months could be considered to be a newbie. I have identified one of those shills who appears to clean up the site but in the process projects only those who they think deserve to be projected.

    • Yes. I know what you are writing about. There is one who will reject perfectly good items so as to prevent you from earning. And the Admin? Good luck in finding him/her.

      • There is also this most commented saga,. Not all get there even though they have far more comments than those who are seen there. And this applies to trending as well.
I have not spotted any moderators on the site though.

  2. There are the Shills who are virtually hired by Admin and paid.

Some are paid outright others are allowed to publish rubbish, without the phoney moderation. This allows them to make money.

If you can publish ten posts a day, every day, you instantly get 15 ‘virils’ for each, so each day you ‘earn’ 150 virils. No matter how one wants to cut and paste, the Shills are ALWAYS paid, and paid first.

  3. Thank you for sharing this blog on this site. It did show me why it takes some time to get my work published on this site since it is better to be safe than sorry.

  4. Many sites have Shills. Take this one; if you complain about a reality, one of the top writers will attack you. Huh? I mean if you can’t publish and complain how could any ‘fellow writer’ attack you?

Simple. He is NOT a fellow writer. He’s a Shill. One of those morons who used to post; “You Broke the Rules ” on Bubblews.

    • Thank you Jaylar, I’m so glad you have published this piece. I will place it on my Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest sites as well because I have noticed this tendency for a while now. There are always some self-appointed “guardians of the realm”, (shills?) Not exactly sure about the meaning of the word, but judging by your content, I believe I have a fairly good idea. Going back even further to Wikinut.com, they have been omni-present, like an ominous, indelible stain, then Bubblews followed, then Blogbourne and Niume. We have all become a whole lot wiser and can now almost assuredly compartmentalize or slot them into a special hole for narcicists. I will post an article I found very interesting which completely exposes people like them. Regards, Andre’

      • I see you have the experiences.

The writing site which exposed this to me was waaaay back in 2010 a site called ‘Factoidz’. At the collapse a number of the Shills came right out and admitted it on Hubpages (I think).
        A Shill is a person who is paid to bring people to be ripped off. Often he is someone ‘just like you’. So in ancient days he’d be in the audience as the snake oil man was speaking and say;
‘Oh my grandmother took that and it made her years younger….gimme a bottle!” and he’d run up and others would follow.

On Writing sites, the Shill knows that you are going to have no more than 20 items published a week. When you complain he’s be all kinds of pretentious as if you are lying or broke the rules, when he knows, For a Fact that the site is tipped in that direction.

Users have to know, for a fact that the various obstacles to their publishing are NOT glitches, are NOT site wide, that they are targeted.
