Having learned to protect ourselves, we developed different passwords for different sites, each with a bit of a twist.
Some were words misspelled.
As an example, Spock’s password had been Vulcan. It then became Vilcan, Volcan, Vulcon…etc.
Some used a common word like Toast, but the ‘O’ would be replaced by a 0 (Zero).
All this was done on Bulletin Board Servers before we entered Cyberspace.
When we did gain access to the Internet , in 1995, we had a number of different Nicknames and passwords we could jumble so as to make hacking our accounts not so easy.
Are you kidding? I have to write mine down and put them in the lock box.
Isn’t it insane? In the old days you had a password and used it everywhere and no problem. Now I have to write them down and keep them and it has become more trouble than it is worth.
Passwords are necessary and they drive me completely crazy.
Me too. If you saw the effort I had to make to recall a password for a rarely used site, the amount time I had to waste… I guess it would seem funny if you weren’t me.
Passwords are very important these days.
As long as you don’t have to write them down
Well then mine are useless because they are written down in a lock box. Oh well. Eventually the whole world will get hacked.
The reality is that you could have a password like Mu$ic which you’ve used since 1995 and have never been hacked, and another could use %3wo87v0j* and someone gets into their computer, copies and pastes it.
