Adding Subtitles Using Movavi Video Editor

Are you aware that there are lots of viewers out there nowadays that watch videos on mute? While estimates vary it has been suggested that anything from 50% to 80% of social media video views, in particular, are without sound – especially on mobile devices.

Because of that, it is more important than ever that your videos are able to deliver their message without leaning too heavily on their voiceover. The best way to do that is by providing an alternative to it in the form of captions or subtitles.

If you’d like to ‘bake in’ subtitles to your videos, there is no easier way than by using Movavi Video Editor. Not only will it let you add text to your video as subtitles, but it will give you full control over its appearance so you can get creative and make it stand out.

How to Add Subtitles to a Video

In order to add subtitles to video, you should launch Movavi Video Editor and select the ‘Create project in full feature mode option’. Once the editor’s interface appears, click on the ‘Add Media Files’ button and find then select the video that you want to add subtitles to.

The video that you added will automatically be placed in Movavi Video Editor’s ‘Timeline’ in the bottom area of the interface. Next, you should open up the ‘Titles’ tab on the left navigation of the interface, and browse through the list of styles that are available while clicking on anyone that you’d like to preview.

After you decide which style of subtitles would suit your video best, click and drag it over to Movavi Video Editor’s ‘Timeline’ and place it in the position that you want. Initially, the title you add will have some sample text, and you can double-click on it in the ‘Timeline’ to select it then double-click on the sample text in the ‘Preview’ window to enter your subtitles. At the same time, you can adjust its position in the ‘Preview’ window too.

If you’d like to adjust the appearance of the subtitle more directly, you can click on the icons located above the ‘Preview’ window that will allow you to alter its properties. The ‘Clip properties’ icon will let you customize the animation of the text (if any), the ‘Font properties’ icon will allow you to alter its font and style, while the ‘Color properties’ icon will let you adjust the colors that it uses.

That is really all that is needed to add subtitles to a video, and you should repeat the process for each part of the video until you’re done. As you can see Movavi Video Editor makes it easy and straightforward to both add as well as customize the subtitles.

To supplement your subtitles, Movavi Video Editor has ‘callouts’ that you can add but heading over to the ‘Callouts’ tab. Essentially these callouts consist of graphic symbols such as speech bubbles, shapes, arrows, and so on. If you want to add them to your video you just need to drag them over to the ‘Timeline’ and then customize them in the same way as you did your subtitles.

Make no mistake there are numerous other ways that you can edit your video using Movavi Video Editor, and you could look into cutting and joining videos, enhancing their quality, adding audio tracks, applying effects and filters, inserting animated transitions, and more. All these features are right there at your fingertips and are just as easy to use and apply to your videos (or more so) as adding subtitles.
