The Phogat sisters are six sisters from the state of Haryana of the Incredible Indian Sub-continent. As per the order of the dates of Birth, they are Geeta, Babita, Priyanka, Ritu, Vinesh and Sangita. While Geeta, Babita, Ritu and Sangita are daughters of India’s one of the former renowned National Wrestler and the coach, Shree Mahavir Singh Phogat.
Priyanka & Vinesh were only brought up by Mahavir Singh after their father’s unprecedented sudden death, who was the real brother of Mahavir Singh who died accidentally over an issue of a land dispute incident of their fore fathers ancestral property.
Mhavir Singh Phogat trained all six of them in Wrestling at their home village BALALI on Haryana. Three Phogat sisters Geeta, Babita and Vinesh are Gold medalist in different weight categories in the common wealth games. One among the six, Priyanka also won the Silver Medal at the international level of the Asian Championship. Ritu, the cool one who also is a National Gold Medalist and the last but not the least is that, Sangita even won many victorious Medals at various age level national and International Championships.
The Fourth largest and fast growing economy in the world, India while still fighting to clean up the Nation from the hell of violence against girl child, child abuse and child marriage, at the same time these patriot sisters throw a message to all of us that “Beti Bachaao, Beti Padhaao and Beti Ko AAge Badhaao “(Save the girl, educate and let her lead ).
Despite of many prevalent social issues in the state of Haryana like Female feticides and violence against women and girl child, these sisters did touch the sky of glory and proved their metal in front of male dominated Indian Society. Each and every Indian society now-a-day well known to two brave sisters and Indian heartthrobs Geeta & Babita. The sports-women image of Geeta & Babitadid boom both nationally and internationally after the release of Bollywood Block-Blaster Dangal produced by an Iconic Film Star of India, Amir Khan.
Shree Mahavir Singh Phogat who is a former Indian Wrestler from the Balali village in the Bhiwani Dist. Of Haryana who became an official Coach that did open his eyes towards the field of wrestling. MAN SINGH, the proud father of Shree Mahavir Singh also was a wrestler.
