With the Alabama Crimson Tide eliminated from any chances of making it to the College football playoff, after their loss to the Auburn Tigers, an opportunity for the Utah Utes to move in has presented itself. That is if the Utes can defeat the Oregon Ducks in the Pacific 12 Conference Championship game. The Oregon Ducks currently lead the match-up series with 22 wins over the Utes, out of the 32 meetings which dates back to 1933.
In my honest opinion, despite all of the buzz as of late about the Utes, I just cannot see them as competition against any of the current top 4 teams if they were to get passed the Ducks which will not be easy. And just throwing it out there, Pacific 12 Conference teams are known to fail when there is an opportunity to make it to the National Championship game.
Like the Arizona State Sun Devils ruined the Ducks chances of making it into the College football playoff, I see the Ducks ruining the Utes chances in the same fashion. Thinking about it, if the Ducks would have defeated the Sun Devils, a win over the Utes would have solidified their chances of entering the College football playoff.

honestly I suspect Oregon in playing the spoiler will win this one.
Pac 12 games are amazing to watch, especially after dark for us east coast folk because most of them come on late evening for us. I expect them to spoil Utah’s chances too.
i am thinking the final four will be familiar except for Alabama not being in.

🙂 I think they are. That would be the best game overall the two best teams.
This is the best chance the Pac-12 had to get into the championship, but that conference has way too much parity.
And I just noticed that the game is Friday night.
They moved it to Fridays a few years back. It does give the conference a little more exposure, but they still have to deal with the East Coast bias.
Never even noticed it, but maybe that is because I never had interest in the teams playing.
