My NBA 2017 Draft Preview: Charlotte Hornets

11. Malik Monk – SG – Kentucky.  (19.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, .397 3PT).

40. Dwayne Bacon – SF – Florida State.  (17.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg).

The reason why the Hornets did not make the NBA Playoffs last season was due to their mediocre scoring (16th in ppg).  Fortunately, Charlotte made a couple of picks that could contribute to more scoring for next season.

Monk is one of the best shooters that was in the 2017 NBA Draft.  He dropped to 11 in the draft because of his height at 6’3″, but he should be effective right out the gate if his shot is falling.  Bacon is an explosive athlete that can get the ball to the rim.  He must become more assertive while transitioning to the pro game.

Grade:  A-.  The Hornets were able to address their biggest weakness in the draft.
