EMPLOYEES OF GOVT STEEL COMPANY WILL GET PENSION

The Steel Ministry has agreed to implement the pension scheme for employees and officers of government steel companies like SAIL and RINL. This decision will benefit 96,000 serving and 56,000 retired personnel of these companies. An additional burden of Rs 540 crores is expected from these pension plans.

The Ministry said in the statement, “The Steel Ministry has agreed to the proposal to implement the pension scheme for various CPSEs with its administrative control, in the matter of officers from January 1, 2007 and in the case of workers category it is 1 Will be implemented from January 2012 or later from the date fixed by the company. ”

Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh said that out of the pension scheme, 94,000 employees of CPSE under the Ministry of Steel and 56,000 retired employees will be benefitted. This will result in additional financial burden of Rs 45 crore per month.

He said that the pension scheme will depend on factors such as accessibility, ability to pay and affordability by CPSE. It has been stated in the statement that government budgetary support will not be available to run these schemes.
