While it maybe heartbreaking for the English fans but they had to admit that Croatia played a great game. They were controlling the game, keeping most of the possession and setting the rhythm.
England had the lead 1-nil for more than 60 minutes, with Trippier’s free kick goal, and they are just complacent with that. They became sloppy and just gave the ball away too carelessly. Croatia punished them by scoring during the 68th minutes and then again in extra time. The second goals proved Mandzukic striker’s instinct and sharpness and at the same time, shown England’s defense weakness.
This may not sound nice but I think England was slightly over-hyped because they had gotten lucky with their route that they became a little tinybit overconfident. They were thinking about France even before their match with Croatia, underestimating their opponent.
England is not a bad team, they’ve young players with potential and will probably shine in the next World Cup, but now, such setback is needed. It’ll help them grow and hopefully they will not underestimate Belgium in their next game.
Anyway, well done, Croatia!! Wish you all the best in the final!!
I have never understood this obsession with nationalism
… after what Croatia went through to become what they’re today as a country, I think its hard for them not to…
furthermore there are more things than nationalism that spreads us…
I am not saying that nationalism is the cause of all our woes, just that I don’t understand why it is just a big deal for so many folks
Hmm… I’ve never really observed this… but not that you mentioned, I kind of “see” it… Patriotism seems to be thought from young, it’s hard to shake off
It is very easy to shake off once you realize that everyone in the world is the same as everyone else. Then you know that nationalism is nonsense

Both French and Croatian are high quality teams ..I’m glad that Croatia is in the finals.It will be a dramatic game, but the trophy will take a better team.
