Current Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson is hoping that his football players on his team will not kneel down or sit during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner before football game as a form of protest against injustice to minorities this year.

Current Seattle Seahawks defensive end  Michael Bennett and Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch have decided to sit down during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner this year as a form of a protest against mistreatment of minorities.

Okay so this America and people have a right to protest of injustices that are going in the mad world we live in today but since National Football League (NFL) Commissioner Roger Goodell does not want to act like a dictator he agrees that football players who are exercising their right to protest by not standing during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner have their right to protest but what Goodell evidently does not remember is that the Neilsen ratings of the NFL football games in 2016 took a severe fall since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Jackson was hired by the management of the Cleveland Browns to win football games and lead the team to a Super Bowl berth. If Jackson does not win enough football games during his tenure as head coach of the Browns, he will be terminated by the Browns management not the football players that he coaches.

I have always wondered if former Green Bay Packers head coach Vince T. Lombardi, the former Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry and the former head coach of the Chicago Bears George S Halas would tolerate any football player who refuses to stand during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner before football games,

Since all three former head coaches of their respective teams had reputations of being tough as nails in getting their football players ready to play a football game for pay, I doubt any football player who played for them for even think of taking a knee or seat on the bench before the playing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Be that as it may, if I were in Goodell’s shoes and the owners of the league gave me unlimited power to make money for them, I would have a video on the scoreboard playing the late Elvis Presley singing his hit song “American Trilogy” and then the Star Spangled Banner at football games to get some high ratings for the league.

But then again I might as well dream that Pete Rose will be in the Major League Baseball Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown New York before he draws his last breath on Earth before my ideas of reviving patriotism in the National Football League will become a reality. Right now let us enjoy our soap opera of sports.

  1. I would guess you are a Cleveland sports fan based on your posts! I have watched the Browns sturggle to be relevant for many years.

I hope based on Coach Jackson they get back to a place where they matter. Back in the Bernie Kosar days they were a fun team to watch!

    • My brother in law who is from Cleveland is a fan of the local teams. I am a fan of the Oakland Raiders since they are painted as the league villains by the media and my roots being from Panama via the former Canal Zone.
