Cannonier with TKO victory over Hermansson

source

Overlooking your opponent is never a good thing to do in mixed martial arts.  Leading up to the middleweight (185 lbs) match-up between Jack Hermansson and Jared Cannonier, Hermansson was already looking ahead to a possible #1 contender fight in 2020.  However, the UFC is unforgiving when a fighter becomes complacent.

At the Royal Arena in Copenhagen Denmark, Cannonier secured a second-round TKO victory against Hermansson via ground and pound.  Hermansson made a critical error at the start of the second round when he went for a double leg takedown without setting up the wrestling maneuver with strikes.  Cannonier was able to brace himself for the takedown while throwing a sneaky left uppercut that hit Hermansson on the temple.  After a few hammer fists, Cannonier was declared the winner with 4:32 left in the second round.  Cannonier has remained undefeated since he has moved down from light heavyweight (205 lbs).
