Belarus Premier League Week 4 Saturday recap

The tripleheader that took place in the Belarus Premier League on Saturday have vastly changed the landscape of the league table.  

In the first match of the day, Slutsk and Vitebsk played to a 1-1 draw.  Vitebsk struck first on the road with a goal from Ion Nicolescu in the 31st minute.  Nicolescu was able to keep the ball and make the goal with three defenders near him.  Slutsk was able to tie the match in the 62nd minute when Souleymane Koanda tapped in a free kick.  With the draw, Slutsk and Vitebsk are now tied for third place.

In the second match, Torpedo BelAZ (FC Torpedo Zhodino) moved into first place of the Belarus Premier League with a 2-0 home victory over Energetyk-BGU (FC Zvezda BGU Minsk), who was in first place before this game began.  Both goals were scored in the second half.  

In the final match, Gorodeya won the battle of Minsk with a 1-0 victory over Dinamo Minsk.  Gorodeya obtained a penalty kick early in the match after a player was tripped up by two Dinamo Minsk defenders right in front of goal.  They had to trip him or he would have scored.  The penalty kick was sent in by Sergey Arkhipov in the 14th minute.  Gorodeya moves up to eighth place while Dinamo Minsk drops to 14th place in the 16-team Belarus Premier League.
