An Outing in Late May with my Daughter

About a month ago, my daughter wanted to get out of the house and relax a little, so we had a little bit of an outing. The location was on the banks of Clark Fork River about 9 miles northwest of home. We were only out for about two and a half hours, but it was a hot day with lots of sunshine, so she ended up with a sunburn.

I also got burned, but with me, I normally don’t show it. It feels like a sunburn, but instead of turning red, I just turn to a deeper tan, thanks to the amount of Cherokee blood I have. So the sunburn was noticeable on Cat, but I ended up just looking more tan.

Facing northwest

It is pretty easy to see just what we were doing when we went to the river. You can see my fishing pole in the picture. The view is to the northwest and to give you some idea of where we are located, part of the mountains that can be seen in the distance are actually in Idaho. As a crow flies, we live about 35-40 miles from Idaho. By road, we are about 75 miles from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. By the way, that city is pronounced core-da-lane.

Oh, I almost forgot, on this outing, Cat wasn't able to catch any fish, but I pulled in two nice trout. One was about 2 pounds and the other was about a half-pound lighter. Both were brook trout.

Across the river

Directly across the river from this fishing spot is a large agricultural field. They normally grow either wheat or grass hay. On this side of the river, just before we get to the location of where this picture was taken, we go pass a large greenhouse where they sell daylilies. I keep saying that I'm going to stop there someday, but we never have yet. Then again, I really don't need any more daylilies. I have quite a few already and they will be blooming in the next few days.

Beside the car

I took this picture while standing beside the car, just before we got in and left. The only reason I took it is to show the multitude of different plants that grow at this location. A few of those plants are edible, a few are medicinal, and a few aren't edible, but they are all pretty. There is both a willow and a wild rose in this image. The rose isn't yet blooming, though.

  1. You are one lucky man, and father to be able to spend time with your daughter. This is like a retreat in the photos. Your surroundings are always beautiful. Love the snow and now the fishing spot. Perfect place to live it seems.
