2019 NBA Draft Review: Los Angeles Clippers

After surprising basketball fans all over the world by making the postseason and giving Golden State some problems in the first round of the NBA Western Conference Playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers pulled off one of the best off-seasons in the history of the National Basketball Association by signing free agent Kawhi Leonard and by trading for Paul George.  Even after sending players and draft picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire George, the Clippers still had two draft picks in the 2019 NBA Draft.  Let’s see who they picked.

#27 Mfiondu Kabengele – C – Florida State.  6’10”, 256 lbs.  (13.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.5 bpg, 36.9% 3-pt%)

Although Kabengele came off of the bench for Florida State, he was the leading scorer for the Seminoles.  He can score in bunches in the post or from the perimeter.  Kabengele could develop into a stretch five that will produce off of the bench.  He should see some time this season as a back-up center.

#48 Terance Mann – SF – Florida State.  6’7″, 205 lbs.  (11.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.5 apg)

The Los Angeles Clippers must have liked watching Florida State tape from last season because they also drafted Mann from the Seminoles.  Mann is listed as a small forward, but he played more like a point forward at FSU.  Mann was also the best defender on the team as well.  For Mann, he should see some minutes off of the bench at either point guard, shooting guard, or small forward.  His versatility should be another asset that will help the Clippers in this new championship window.

Grade:  The Clippers really needed to bolster their bench after the trade, and they picked well by going with the Florida State duo.  I give them a B+.
