2018 ACC College Football Preview

One can no longer say that the Atlantic Coast Conference is solely a basketball conference as 10 of the 14 teams played in a bowl last season.  This type of depth will make the ACC very competitive once again.  Let’s take a look at both divisions in this stacked conference.

ACC Atlantic Division

1. Clemson.  The Tigers defensive line could go down as one of the best in history if they dominate the line of scrimmage like last season.

2. Florida State.  The Seminoles will look to bounce back to prominence after a coaching change and after a season riddled with key injuries.

3. Boston College.  The Eagles should be able to soar this season if the team plays like they did during the last half of last season.

4. Louisville.  If you like plenty of scoring, then make sure that you watch the Cardinals this season.  They will score a bunch of points, but they might give away even more points.

5. Wake Forest.  The Demon Deacons will look to secure their third consecutive winning season with plenty of experience across the board.

6. North Carolina State.  The Wolfpack could quite possibly have the best passing attack in the ACC, but they will be in plenty of shootouts due to no starters returning from their front 7.

7. Syracuse.  Although the Orange runs a spread attack, their offense remains stuck in neutral.

ACC Coastal Division

1. University of Miami.  Although the Hurricanes wilted at the end of the season with three consecutive losses, their experience and their depth ensures that they will not fade this season.

2. Duke.  At Duke, football is no longer considered an afterthought.

3. North Carolina.  Their defense cannot be as bad as last year’s.

4. Virginia Tech.  The Hokies should be better on offense, but they have major holes to fill on defense.

5. Virginia.  The Cavaliers must look to not slide after losing their last 4 games last season.

6. Georgia Tech.  The triple option is back, but the passing game will need some help.

7. Pittsburgh.  Pitt’s schedule in September is so tough that they made their non-conference slate as rough as last year’s schedule.

ACC Champ:  Clemson.
