Even though the Toronto Raptors secured their second straight 50-win season, they still did not have enough to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs. Staying status quo will not help the Raptors secure their goal of making it to the NBA Finals. New blood must be brought into the camp. Let’s check out what Toronto did in this year’s NBA Draft.
23. O.G. Anunoby – SF – Indiana. 6’8″, 235 lbs. (11.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg).
Anunoby is a definite in this draft because he suffered a season-ending knee injury at Indiana that dropped his stock from the lottery to being picked #23. If his knee is still on the mend, then he should be given time to recover since Toronto is a solid team.

However, Anunoby has the strength and the athleticism to possibly recover and to be able to make significant progress in his rookie season off of the bench. If he is able to come back, then he is capable of bringing a spark off the bench that needs a little bit more of excitement because he has the capacity to change the tempo of the game with his energy.
Grade: Incomplete. Although he is very talented at the defensive end, he really needs time to develop his offensive game. Plus, the Raptors needed someone that could help contribute off of the bench now in order to remain afloat in the Eastern Conference.
