2017 NBA Draft Review: Atlanta Hawks

<a href="http://www.trendingtoplists.com/top-10-atlanta-hawks-of-all-time" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Source</a>

#19 John Collins – PF – Wake Forest.  6’10”, 235 lbs.  (19.2 ppg, 9.8 rpg).

#41 Tyler Dorsey – SG – Oregon.  6’4″, 195 lbs.  (14.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 42.3% from 3-Pt range).

#60 Alpha Kaba – PF – KK Mega Leks (Serbia).  6’10”, 225 lbs.  (10.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg).

The Hawks needed to address post play after trading Dwight Howard to Charlotte.  Also, Paul Millsap is in free agency.  Collins has a solid array of post moves that could possibly make him an effective scoring threat as a rookie.  As he continues to improve his strength, then he will continue to improve in the paint.

Dorsey improved his draft stock with an impressive NCAA Tournament run in which he helped lead the Oregon Ducks into the Final Four.  His shooting range will allow for him to obtain playing time off of the bench.

Kaba will probably stay over in Europe for a couple of more years.  He is an explosive rebounder whose talent will eventually translate into an NBA roster spot in the near future.

Grade:  B+.  The Hawks were able to pinpoint players that were definite needs for the roster.

  1. The Cavs are so close to the luxury tax that they cannot grab anyone else. Cleveland won’t go over the cap. Golden State’s owner has chosen to go over the cap by signing everyone back.
