My 2017-18 Big XII (Big 12) Men’s Basketball Predictions

For the past 13 years, the Big 12 Conference in men’s basketball has been dominated by Kansas Jayhawks. Will another team in the conference be able to step up throughout conference play this season?

1. Kansas.  Of course, the answer is a resounding no.  All of the Jayhawk haters have been waiting more than a decade to see Kansas end up in second place.  However, the Jayhawks continue to reload every season.  This season is no different with senior guard Devonte’ Graham leading the show along with transfer Malik Newman.

2. Baylor.  The leadership of PG Manu Lecomte can no longer be questioned as Baylor was ranked #1 for the first time ever last season for a couple of weeks.

3. West Virginia.  The pressure the Mountaineers brings every game leads to major mistakes made by their opponents.

4. Texas.  An extremely talented recruiting class ensures that the Longhorns will not wilt down the stretch.

5. Oklahoma.  The Sooners are looking to bounce back sooner than later with the addition of All-American point guard Trae Young.

6. TCU.  The Horned Frogs are looking to step up this season after winning the NIT last season.

7. Kansas State.  The backcourt is strong, but post players must be found.

8. Texas Tech.  The Red Raiders need to learn how to win the close games.

9. Iowa State.  The Cyclones will be in rebuilding mode as every key player from last season graduated.

10. Oklahoma State.  Instability at the coaching position has put this program in major rebuilding mode.
