Water is Life

I have put together 10 photos of water in motion. These are my art. I have nothing to say about them. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Just take a look at each one, and see what the camera saw this day.

I have put together some of my favorite quotes below, matched with the photos. I will let you decide..

“A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know. ” ~Diane Arbus

“I began to realize that the camera sees the world differently than the human eye and that sometimes those differences can make a photograph more powerful than what you actually observed. ”  ~Galen Rowell

“The two most engaging powers of a photograph are to make new things familiar and familiar things new.”  ~William Thackeray

“Results are uncertain even among the most experience photographers.”  ~Matthew Brady

“Photography deals exquisitely with appearances, but nothing is what it appears to be.”  ~ Duane Michals

“Which of the photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.” ~Imogen Cunningham

“When the well is dry, we will know the worth of water.”  ~Benjamin Franklin

“The water you touch in a river is the last of that which has passed, and the first of that which is coming. Thus it is with time present.  ~Leonardo Da Vinci

“Water is the only drink for the wiseman.”  ~Henry David Thoreau

“If there is magic on the planet, it is contained in the water.  ~Loren Eisley

  1. Water, clouds, fire. These have had hypnotic powers over humans since time began. Each ethereal and ephemeral. Being as we, here and now, appealing to our animal instinct yet, forever confounding our logical reasoning. Great portrayal of this sentient being. The quotes resonate throughout the forests and seas.

    • Awe, man, I hate that. I always try to take a bag for extra trash with me. When we were kids that commercial used to come on with the Native American Indian with the tear drop in his eye looking at the litter. I went to a few Water is Life Rallies here in SD.
