Up on a Mountain

My son and I took a drive along the Pacific Crest Sunrise Highway in San Diego County a few days ago.

We started off at sea level and drove up to the mountains and along the crest. The highway is called Sunrise Highway.

If you would like to catch the first part of this drive click below.

We finally reached 5000 feet in elevation.

#1 Looking down below into the desert side of the crest.

You have desert on one side, with the elevation of below sea level in places, to 6, 700 feet high on the mountain top.

Wildfire did go through here, as you might be able to see the charring on the trees.

#2 Dang

I forgot that means the parks are closed...sighs..

#3 Frown

I am ashamed.

#4 Behind the locked gate

is this view of the desert floor. The Salton Sea is just out of frame to the left here.

#5 Nice place

For a picnic, although a bit nippy. Snow and giant Pine Treees.

#6 The view

Was so pretty from up there.

#7 Trees growing back from the fire.

This giant pine didn't make it.

#8 More of the view.

#9 A closer look

That is one long way down.

#10 Last one

It looks pretty barren down there doesn't it.

I hope you enjoyed this little drive so far, look for the next post in this series titled, High above the Chimney Top coming soon!

Have a great day.

    • I don’t remember that verse, that is one great song though isnt it? I know you feel the same way. Thank you Doc, glad you came along for the ride! I never saw a no trespassing sign, just the closed park sign. Closed? You can’t close down the outside can you?
