The squacco heron (Ardeola ralloides) is a small heron, 44–47 cm long, of which the body is 20–23 cm, with 80–92 cm wingspan.
It is an endangered species!
Lives in freshwater lakes and marshes, dams, fish farms and floodplain forests. During migrations, it is also found in coastal, dams, irrigation channels.
Incubates only in mixed colonies of herons, glossy ibis, spoonbills and little cormorants. The nests are located in cane or on willows and poplars.
Grows 4-5 small ones that start flying from the beginning of July. It feeds on small fish, frogs, aquatic insects.
Since they are endangered species, how does your government preserve them from extinction?
They live in reserves, such as the Danube Delta in Romania, protected Black Sea area in Bulgaria where they nest. Hunting in these areas is prohibited!

In Europe it meets along the Danube and the Black Sea.
Also in Iran, Turkey and along the Caspian Sea.
