I took the dogs for a walk in the old park near me, the day before the fires started.
I pulled up to the white truck in the parking lot and noticed this egret sitting on the roof. The sun was really warm here, and he blended well. lol This was taken from my car window. I sit really low compared to this truck.
He let me get rather close. So today for the 365 photo challenge since I didn’t get to post yesterday due to the fires I thought I would share all the photos I took of this beauty. I did not use a zoom, this is how close he let me get.. Amazing. I talked to him in a low tone, my movements very slow, I never once looked at his eyes with mine.
That stare. lol
He didn’t really tense up, no thoughts of flying.
Have you ever seen those youtube videos of people get practical jokes done to them. Pranked? I kind of felt like I was in one.. I kept waiting for some big burly guy to step out and say, “Hey LADY, Get AWAY from my BIRD!”
I got a bit closer..
No big burly lumber jack appeared.. : ) yay!
I decided to get really brave, and to see what he would let me do.. How close could I get? I got this one, and decided that was enough for the bird.
We walked in the park, Meika chased rabbits, and swam in the creek. When we came back a few hours later, the bird was still hanging out.

Great luck, I was amazed he let me click that camera so close to him.
I think, luck is almost always on your side, Kim
I wish. I have often said if it weren’t for bad luck I’d have none at all. Who said that? I can’t remember.
Above all, however, to me, you are a synergy of luck.
He or she was sure keeping an eye on you!
Yes he was, I guess you’d call that an eagle eye? lol
This cute bird is quite a model. Seems it has everything under control 🙂
That’s what I thought too. Someone asked if it was hurt, I said I really don’t think so, I think he is just enjoying the sun. lol
My thought exactly 🙂 He is so majestic in his sunbathing 🙂
Superb photos, Ms. Egret-whisperer!
