Signs of Spring

Anyone who really knows me is aware that I love four seasons. I think each has it’s own special charm and I never want to live where I cannot experience this every year. My first sign of spring in always the first calf. Here the first calf always comes when the ground is still blanketed with snow. Everyone knew when I walked in the door, I had seen the first calf and I had new hope.

There are some other signs that I am waiting for. I want to see the first night crawler laying out on the rock in front. I want to see the first sprig of green grass push through the snow. I want to see hoar frost in the morning and green grass in the afternoon.

  1. When I lived in Latvia I had all four seasons and really enjoyed spring and summer. Then my husband passed away and I returned to the US and since his birthday and the day he passed away are both in the summertime I now prefer the spring and the autumn. Except living in Florida now things are completely different and the signs of spring here are very subtle and of course, there is no winter.

Signs of Spring

The first signs of Spring are starting to pop up from beneath the ground. Although, I think it’s a bit early. I really hope we get some more snow. We really need the moisture.

The Crocus are lovely though. I’ll have to go out again when the sun is shining a bit brighter. I had a bit of trouble getting them in focus. Perhaps with better light, I’d be able to get some closer shots.

Still, the colors are beautiful. I can’t wait until Spring arrives in full force.
