Saturday Critters – Butterflies

Today looking for pictures for this post, I found some photos taken on the Ialomita Valley. These were the last photos taken last summer, because Maya started to have health problems in a few days. Only now I realize that Maya might have been hurt that day, because she ran a lot through the high grass, looking for butterflies! I have to make sure this not happen again.

The way butterflies are growing and developing is very special. They develop through 4 stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), crystalline and butterfly. Most butterflies do not live longer than a few weeks, but there are species that can live up to a few months. Butterflies are the second largest group of pollinators. There are over 24,000 butterflies in the world. I found only a few.

I remember that it was quite difficult to take these pictures. There was a hot day, and the butterflies were flying around. Anyway, that’s what I did. I hope you enjoy these photos!

This is my post for Sattuday Crittes Challenge
