San Marcos Creek, San Elijo, CA (part 3) The second tier!

Do you ever take too many pictures? How much is too much?

I have a problem with this… I seem to snap hundreds of times, these are the ones that made the cut. lol.

If you would like to visit part one and two, here they are.

Part one explains how we found this place, check it out for the full story. Part two shows the dogs having fun swimming and exploring.

Part three shows what is above this beautiful lower tier of these falls, and without further ado…

#2 Purple?

I don't know if this was natural or a rock that had been tagged long ago. But it really stood out after the dogs got it wet.

#3 The second tier

I climbed above the second tier to give you a look at what we just walked up..or climbed that is.  See the green grass on the left, that is the same patch of grass from the lower tier.

#4 Back down to the second tier.

We were sitting here, letting the dogs explore the woods, when my son says, "Look at that orange and white fish!". I laughed thinking he was talking about some graffiti or something, when I see  flash or orange... Sure enough.. there was a foot long Koi Fish. Orange on top and white on the bottom. There were also a lot of minnows. That Koi was fat and happy!

#5 The bluff face

Was very majestic looking, this shot is just to the right of the green grass fall. You can just barely see the green on the lower left corner.

#6 Panning right…

One last look at the bluff before we make our way up to the creek above..

#7 Little pools

The creek usually flows over these rocks, but with the drought the water travels underground and little pools are left. The water is ice cold and very clear, and still moving...

#8 Yellow flowers

Yellow flowers and wet rocks. The dogs have already been here!

#9 The yellow flowers

just begged for a macro..

I hope you enjoyed the second tier of this beautiful creeks fall.

Look for the last in this series,

"The creek above", coming soon!

Have a great day!

    • Thank you! Let me know if your are ever in my neck of the woods. I can be a tour guide! You dog would fit right in to the pack, we even took my moms little chihuahua mix.

    • The previous weekend we found a place on google maps, but it was a bust. We couldn’t get down a bluff. I don’t like heights. So we came home.
This time my son was ahead of me by like a quarter of a mile, and I hear him say, “OH wow. its not a bust this time!”
