The Harrier Hawk or the Swamp Harrier
The New Zealand Falcon a threatened species.
Barn Owls
Morepork or Ruru.
We have captive breeding for release, education about these birds, falconry, bird rehabilitation, conservation and research.
I visited “Wingspan” for the first time and we had 3 people talk about individual falcons. It was really worthwhile and very interesting to learn about these birds.
So this day, I only learned about these Falcons, it is illegal to have a NZ Falcon to practice falconry but you can do that with Swamp Harriers or Harrier Hawks.
These Falcons are trained to survive in the wild and are wonderful birds. I had the wonderful opportunity to hold “Shadow” one of these beautiful birds.
He sure is eyeing those treats.
